35 Parent Reviews for Hancock Park Elementary School

Very little/no technology except two 4th grade teachers. Pretty run down school. Teachers vary widely within each grade, so you better get lucky to get a good one, like winning the lottery. Tons of homework, no 'free' homework program, everything cost extra money. Focus is on teaching-to-the-test, and ...  Read more

The previous review was inaccurate, there is no full-time computer teacher. She left last year and has not been replaced. Each teacher conducts their own computer class, half don't work, although there are other teachers to help out. Overall, good school, wonderful principal. Far too much homework in ...  Read more

Our child started kindergarten this year at HPE. We are thrilled with what we have seen to date. The instruction she is receiving is excellent Her teacher has created a nurturing learning environment. The school has a very involved booster club which has provided new playground equipment, a full-time ...  Read more

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that while this school does have some excellent programs, the emphasis is on homework and testing rather than thoughtful learning and citizenship. I am also unhappy with the choice of either ridiculously expensive after-school care or none at all and I ...  Read more

This is the best school! The teachers are amazing and there is great parental involvement. It is diverse and high-achieving. What else could you want?

This is an excellent school. From the Principal, to the teachers, it is apparent that everyone has one goal: do what is best for the children. I highly recommend this school. It's the best!

This school has positives and negatives. I think the October 15th post is very true and thoughtful. I can't add anything to this, except this school is very good at high achievers and slow learners. My daughter, by their standards an average to poor learner, cannot get the individual help she needs, ...  Read more

No school is perfect - and contrary to the positive reviews written here - this school is certainly no exception. The true test of a great school is the long-term benefits it has on a child. As a parent of a child who previously attended this school, I can state that the overall level of education ...  Read more

I love this school! The parents participate, the teachers are enthusiastic and knowledgeable, the staff is helpful, and the vibe is nurturing. The principal is friendly, yet professional, the vice principal is great at her job, and the after school curriculum is diverse. In addition to the basic subjects, ...  Read more

Hancock Park has a wonderful diversity of students and enthusiastic teachers. The principal and the assistant principal are very committed and parents are very involved. The quality of the teachers is better than some private schools. Our daughter is in the first grade and so far she has received ...  Read more
